Banteay Srei

Banteay Srey is typically called “Lady Temple”. It means “The Citadel of Women”. It might be because of its beautiful pink sandstone carving and delicate beauty. The temple was built during the reign of King Rajendravarman. It was built by the initiation of royal teacher named Yajnavaraha.

The temple represents one of the finest eras of classical Khmer art. The temple is relatively small size but ornate design provide a taste of ambiance. The best time to visit is from 10:30 AM and after 2:00 PM as it shines its beauty during that time. The closing time is 5:00 PM.

Banteay Srey is about 38km from the city. It is one of the must visit temple in Siem Reap. You should combine a visit between Banteay Srey and Banteay Samre.
