Beng Mealea was built in the reign of King Suryavarman II in 12th century. It has Angkor Wat style but only a single level featuring central sanctuary tower and concentric galleries. It is about 77km from the Siem Reap city and 40km eastward main Angkor temple complex.
It is now ruined but worth a visit as it still shines its beauty to visitors. The site used to have land mines but now it has been cleared. However, you should not stray into the undergrowth.
