Phnom Kulen

Kulen Mountain is located 50km north-east of Angkor Complex. It takes about 2 hours drive up to the hill top. The plateau is 487 meters and 30km long.

You may need to go up before 11 AM and must come down after midday to avoid traffic problem as the road is too narrow.

Kulen Mountain is the holiest mountain in Cambodia. It is well known for domestic tourist during their weekends and festivals.

The mountain was used as the capital of Khmer Empire in AD 802. King Jayavarman II declared himself as a god king and announced independence from Java and the birth of present Cambodia was from that time.

The main attractions are pagoda, waterfall, Big Buddha, Srah Damrei (Elephant Pond) and Anlong Thom Village.
